Making Dance for Playing House, 2015
Center for Contemporary Arts, Santa Fe, NM
Making Dance for Playing House was a day-long residency for students of the New Mexico School for the Arts in response to an exhibition of photography and video by Hillerbrand + Magsamen at the Center for Contemporary Art. Students were encouraged to explore, analyze, draw inspiration from the various installations throughout the gallery, and create original choreography in response to the art work. Students practiced recognizing themes, forms, and materials in the visual arts installations, and then transposed their research into gesture, spatial patterns, and choreographic rhythm.
